Two Commissioners of the ECOWAS Commission visit WAI

Photo GroupOn Sunday, February 16th, 2014, the Executive Secretariat of the West Africa Institute (WAI) welcomed to its premises in Praia the visit of two Commissioners from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Abuja, Federal republic of Nigeria.

Sacoh and NjieThe ECOWAS dele-gation was com-posed of Mrs. Khadi Ramatu Sacoh, Commissioner for Finance and Mr. Ebrima Njie, Commissioner for Infrastructure. The delegation was accompanied by Mr. José Brito, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute and. Mr Charles Akibodé, a technical advisor at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cabo Verde.

TR JBDuring the exchanges, the Chairman of the Management Board and Director-General of WAI outlined the program of activities of the Institute, recalled its role as a « think tank » in the regional integration process in West Africa and stressed the important place of the ECOWAS Commission, as Promoter and  member of the Executive Committee of WAI, in the sustainability of the Institute.

The Commissioners reiterated, on one hand the interest of the Commission in the scientific activities of WAI, and on the other hand, the support of the Commission  for WAI in its endeavor to achieve its assigned objectives.
