“La Langue et (E) Immigration”, Theme discussed at ENG's Round-Table, 13 June 2019

ENG Pro Reitor The School of Business and Governance of the University of Cabo Verde (ENG-UNICV) organized a conference on "La Langue et (E) Immigration this Thursday, June 13, in the Auditorium of the School.

The event that marks this year the 5th edition of the works in French was organized by the students of the 2nd year of the course of Public Relations and Executive Secretariat, under the discipline French for Specific Purposes IV, and was chaired by the Pro-Rector of the University of Cabo Verde, João Cardoso. It was attended by specialists from various areas: Djénéba Traoré, Director General of the West Africa Institute (WAI) in Cabo Verde; Saidu Bangura, Professor at the Uni-CV Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts;  Wlodzimiers Szymaniak, Rector of Unipiaget, Virgílio Alves, Vice-Recteur of Única, and Carmem Barros, Director General of Immigration.

The ceremony began with the musical moment in French, provided by a student of Uni-CV.

UNICV ENG PresidentePro-Rector, João Cardoso, ENG President, João Brito, and Professor of the French Course for Specific Purposes IV, Maria Rosa Martins, thanked for the presence and welcomed the audience. 

 "It was the students of the 2nd year who organized this event, I only supported them," said Professor Maria Rosa Martins, showing her satisfaction with the students' initiative. The main objective of the event was to promote languages, to reflect on the importance of the languages ​​for Cabo Verde and, consequently, to motivate the students to be more interested in learning languages, said the Professor.  

"The secret is no longer the soul of business," stated Pro-Rector João Cardoso in the course of his speech. He added: "Nowadays the soul of business is communication, that is, good communication". He eventually expressed his willingness to support any such events.

ENG Audience In the opinion of the debaters, speaking other languages ​​increases the opportunity to expand knowledge, is the way to new possibilities, ie broadens the network of contacts and creates various opportunities. Acquiring this capacity adds value to life as a whole, whether it's traveling, exchanging or even relating to people from different cultures, after all who is fluent in several languages is at ease anywhere."

The question and answer session ended the 5th edition, leaving open the expectation of other editions.
