International Conference "Building New Partnerships for the Sustainable Development of Cabo Verde" Paris, 11 & 12 December 2018

Paris 1Cabo Verde will organize an International Conference on "Building New Partnerships for the Sustainable Development of Cabo Verde". The event that will be chaired by His Excellency the Prime Minister, Head of the Government of the Republic of Cabo Verde, Dr. José Ulisses Correa e Silva, will be held on December 11 and 12, 2018 at the World Bank Conference Center, Paris, France.

As part of the preparations for this important meeting, the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Government of Cabo Verde, Dr. Olavo Correa, gathered the representatives of the Diplomatic Corps and International Organizations, on November 05, 2018 in the Conference room of the Ministry of Finance. The Vice Prime Minister was surrounded by his close collaborators and the members of the Conference Organizing Committee chaired by Mrs. Carla Cruz, National Director of Planning.

Paris 2The objectives of the meeting are like follows:

1. Presentation of the Concept Note and additional elements of the Conference dossier;

2. Specific points regarding the state of preparations;

3. Exchanges on the contribution proposals of the partners.

It is important to be note that Cabo Verde International Conference takes place in the framework of the achievement of the objectives of the 2017-2021 Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development (PEDS) at the national level and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) issued from the United Nations Organization (UNO).

The members of the Government of Cabo Verde, the representatives of the European Union, ECOWAS, the African Development Bank (AfDB), the World Bank, the Superior Council of Chambers of Commerce of Cabo Verde, the MEDEF, the private sector and the civil society organization of Cabo Verde.

Paris 4The suggestion of the Director General of the West Africa Institute (WAI), to invite to the Paris Conference, the experts of the GAMMA Program in association with the President of the RISC Consortium was validated. Together, they will address issues related to climate change, the protection of oceans, the environment and biodiversity. In fact, Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are particularly vulnerable to these phenomena, which are particularly harmful for the development of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and tourism sectors.
