WAI receives the Visit from the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation, 21 February 2018

Photo Visite Ambassadeur de SuisseHE Marion Weichelt Krupski, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in Senegal, Cabo Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mali and Mauritania, carried out a visit to contact the West Africa Institute on February 21, 2018.

The Ambassador was staying in Praia as part of the presentation of her letters of credentials to HE the President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, Dr. Jorge Carlos de Almeida Fonseca.

Accompanied by Mr. Jean-Baptiste Delèze, Embassy Attaché, the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation met the Chairman of the Board of
Directors of WAI, Ing. Mr. José Brito, the Director General, Prof. Djénéba Traoré, Mrs. Vanilde Lopes, Mr. Renato Frederico and Mr. Márcio Mendonça, members of WAI Secretariat General Team.

 

 

Photo IAO 22 2 18The exchanges focused on WAI research, dialogue and capacity building activities as well as on the various partnerships implemented by WAI since its inception on June 22, 2010.

 

The Chairman of WAI Board of Directors took the opportunity to present the IHABA Project of which he is co-founder.

Mr José Brito informed that the second edition of the Africa Innovation Summit (AIS), component of the IHABA project, would take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from June 6 to 8, 2018, the first AIS edition  being held in Praia, Cabo Verde, from February 4 to 6, 2014.

 

In her intervention, the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation stressed the importance of the partnership between her country and ECOWAS and expressed her wish to know more about the Regional Organization composed of 15 West African States of which the Republic of Cabo Verde is the one of the founding members.

 

IAO Visite Amb SuisseHE Mrs. Marion Weichelt Krupski also informed that she wanted to visit the main Cab Verdean institutions in order to better know the realities of the country, especially in the field of human rights.


Started at 11:30, the meeting ended around 13:30 after fruitful and constructive exchanges.
