Professor Harlan Koff Nominated WAI Fellow, February 1st, 2018

Photo Prof Harlan KoffThe West Africa Institute (WAI) welcomes Professor Harlan Koff  among its Fellows. The appointment, which was formalized by letter on February 1st, 2018, follows the partnership agreement signed in June 2015 between the Consortium for Comparative Research on Regional Integration and Social Cohesion Social - RISC, headquartered at the University of Helsinki (Finland) and WAI.

In addition to his duties as Professor of Social Sciences at the University of Luxembourg, Prof. Harlan Koff is the Founding President of the RISC Consortium in which he coordinates the Working Group on «Comparative Border and Migration Politics». He is also the author of several scientific publications.

As part of their fruitful collaboration, WAI and the RISC Consortium worked during an international workshop, held in May 2015 in Praia, on issues related to regional policy coherence at the level of ECOWAS, SADC, EU, Mercosur and ASEAN, on human rights and democracy / peace and security issues / renewable energies / gender / freedom of movement / access to water and basic social services.

The RISC Consortium celebrated its 10th anniversary in Aguascalientes, Mexico, at the occasion of the 2017 RISC International Conference on Sustainable Development (30-31 October) and the Seminar of the Doctoral and Postgraduate the Centro de Investigacion y Docencia Económicas (CIDE).

Prof. Harlan Koff is married to Dr. Carmen Maganda,Executive Director of the Consortium for Comparative Research on Regional Integration and Social Cohesion (RISC) and co-editor of the new scientific journal Regions and Cohesion by Berghahn Journals.
