At the invitation of the University of Luxembourg, the Director General of the West Africa Institute (WAI), Prof. Djénéba Traoré, took part as Alternate Chairperson in the Jury of the Doctorate Thesis Defense of Mrs. Emeline Nanga on the theme: «Between regions: Morocco and Mexico facing migration in the context of Regional Integration». The candidate drafted her dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Harlan Koff, Professor of Social Sciences and Migration Studies and founding President of the Consortium for Comparative Research on Regional Integration and Social Cohesion (RISC), of which WAI is one of the partners.
The defense was held on September 15, 2016, at the building of the House of Human Sciences of the University of Luxembourg.
At the end of the defense process, the Jury, chaired by Prof. René Leboutte, holder of the Jean Monnet Chair (ad personam) in contemporary European history and Professor of contemporary history at the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Sciences of Education of the University of Luxembourg and also composed of Prof. Juan Manuel Sandoval Palacios, National Institute of Anthropology and History, Direction of Ethnology and Anthropology, Mexico and Dr. Sophie Feyder from the University of Leiden, The Netherlands, awarded to Mrs. Nanga the title of Doctor in Political Sciences with mention "Excellent".
